Fr. Larry Dowling of Priests for Justice for Immigrants joins host Bob Gilligan to discuss the deferred action program proposed by the federal government for young, undocumented immigrants. On the first day that applications were accepted for the program, nearly 13,000 undocumented youths converged on Navy Pier for a sign-up event.

Next, lay Catholics John Powers and Tony Graefe debate the Catholic Social Teaching concepts of subsidiarity and solidarity, respectively, and how they relate to the budget proposed by Republican Congressman and vice-presidential candidate Paul Ryan. Ryan has cited his Catholic faith as a foundation for his budget proposal.
