Jason Adkins, executive director of the Minnesota Catholic Conference, joins Bob to talk about that state's referendum on the Nov. 6 ballot that calls for a constitutional amendment defining marriage as the union of one man and one woman. Minnesota is one of four states considering such an amendment on Election Day. Next, DePaul University religious studies professor Tom O'Brien discusses Catholic Social Teaching and its application to public sector unions. Finally, Patrick Cacchione of the Illinois Catholic Health Association brings listeners up to date on the status of various lawsuits questioning the constitutionality of the mandate handed down by the federal Department of Health and Human Services requiring religious organizations to offer insurance coverage of abortion-inducing drugs, contraceptives and sterilization.
