June 18, 2012 show

Bob talks with Tom Howard from the Archdiocese of Chicago's Office of Peace and Justice about the Fortnight for Freedom, set for June 21-July 4. Lindsey Artola of the government affairs team for Presence Health (the merged health system of Provena and Resurrection) then explains the new charity care guidelines for hospitals approved by lawmakers this legislative session. To wrap up the show, Tom Brejcha from the Thomas More Society talks about the lawsuits brought by the ACLU and Lambda Legal against the Cook County Clerk's office claiming discrimination since same-sex couples were denied marriage licenses. Both the attorney general's office and the Cook County state's attorney office have stated they will not defend current state law that defines marriage as between one man and one woman.
