It was a mother's worst nightmare — her children had gone missing.

Compound that alarm with the fear of reaching out to police for help because you are an undocumented immigrant.

That was the story of "Lupe," a mother of five from Mexico living in the Belleville diocese who looks to her Catholic faith for comfort and hope.

This is the second narrative in a series of stories of immigrants living in our Catholic communities in Illinois. These stories follow up on the Illinois bishops' January 2012 statement in support of immigrant families.
